Waiting it out

The villain in the first hand was super aggressive, raising every pot preflop. It wasn’t that he was clueless. He caught some really great hands, including a straight flush. Yet, he was reckless as well, pushing when he shouldn’t and staying in when it was clear he was beat. Basically, he failed to consider what other players might come in with. I had already stacked him once, and although it was getting late, he had been on a bit of a winning streak, and I felt it was worth staying in the room for as long as I could. This hand he chose to limp.

He had a set of fours. I actually thought it would be a split pot, so wide was his range. Had he pushed harder on the turn, there was a good chance I would fold, as I’m not a big fan of draws against a pot-sized bet at that point. Nobody in their right mind would have folded with the draw I had with what was basically a half-pot bet.

Okay, now I have a sizable stack. It’s been a long day and I’m about to wrap it up. I had made a rookie mistake earlier in the evening, and called an all-in shortie with top pair and a flush draw, and both times I got creamed, so I was even for the day.

Nice job. I want to learn Omaha and should listen to the Nike ad: Just do it.

Thanks Gumpo. High stakes, LOL. As I lay in bed last night, I wondered when I should move up to .10/.25. Maybe after I read a little bit and I get another $100...

MM- I am still waiting on my Jeff Hwang book on PLO, which my sources say is the book to add to one's library. As my buddy Stan says, PLO is full of failed NL players just waiting to give their money away. If that is the case, then your transition should be smooth and successful.
